A variety of treatment options are available for erectile dysfunction, even for men with previous health conditions. Boston Medical Group physicians have treated thousands of men across the US overcome ED over the last 10 years, with an overwhelming success rate. The physicians are well-trained and uniquely-qualified to treat erectile dysfunction in men with multiple sclerosis or other ailments that can potentially affect sexual health. Their wide variety of treatments can also help patients currently taking MS medications deal with their sexual side effects.

Oral medications for ED can help men with MS maintain strong erections, even for those who were previously impotent. However, for some men with MS and ED, the damage done to nerves throughout the body and in the penis may be too extensive for pills to work effectively. If this is your case, don’t be discouraged. The Boston Method provides a wide range of treatments for ED sufferers that don’t involve pills.  Such options include:

Intracavernous Pharmacotherapy (ICP) – This treatment involves a painless injection of a combination of FDA-approved vasodilators into the soft tissue of the penis. This increases blood flow to the penis and a firm, natural-feeling erection typically develops within a few minutes. Erections induced by ICP do not subside until after the effect of the medicine has worn off and can last for 30-60 minutes. ICP injections are commonly preferred by men who cannot take oral medications or have suffered with their side effects.

Vacuum Suction Devices (VSDs) – These cylindrical devices are placed over the penis and the air is sucked from the chamber, drawing blood into the penis. A rubber ring is then placed around the base of the penis to keep the blood from leaving the erectile chamber. While often effective, incomplete erections can sometimes result so using a VSD in conjunction with ICP has proven more effective.

Other treatments – These include hormone replacement therapy (for men with low testosterone levels), sex therapy, or arterial and venous surgeries. Like any surgical procedure, arterial and venous surgery comes with a long list of risks. Boston Medical Group physicians do not perform surgeries of any kind.
